Here at A.M.E we offer a host of secondary operations

Which means you need to look no further for your fully finished component. The machining characteristics of zinc and zinc alloys are excellent, which means a wide range of machining processes can generally be used.

We offer the following:

Hand De - Gate

Components are produced on a sprue and can either be removed of the sprue manually by a hand de gate operation which means we will remove the component of the sprue manually. The other operation that can be used to remove the component of the sprue is a press trimming operation.

Press Trimming

Hare presses are designed to remove the component and any excess material quickly and accurately from the sprue, reducing the need for costly labour associated with manual trimming.

We have a collection of hydraulic Hare Presses here at A.M.E. Contact us to find out more regarding our capacity.

Drilling

If you need holes drilled into your casting A.M.E PDC have an array of pedestal drills to cater to your jigged drilling needs. Need more than one-hole drilling? No problem! We have the capacity to have several drilling jigs set up at any one time.

Tapping/Threading holes

If your component requires internal threaded holes it will not be an issue for A.M.E PDC as Zinc Alloys can be easily threaded. Whether it be cut tapped or roll tapped it will be checked with a fully calibrated screw gauge to ensure it is fully formed.

We have a fully automated tapping cell which can tap (thread) up to 6 Holes at a time. Ranging from M2 – M24 as standard.

Reaming

A reaming operation is designed to enlarge the size of a previously formed hole by a small amount but with a high degree of accuracy to leave smooth sides with a rotary cutting tool called a reamer.

As we are precision die casting specialists, we cast holes to the specific size for reaming to eliminate any drilling beforehand.

Linishing

Linishing is an operation we use to remove excess material from the component by using a technique on a sand belt on a flatbed linisher.

We can improve the flatness of a component by removing split lines by linishing the surface.

Linishing is a process that is used in high finish work in preparation for high finishes.
